Drool Dog Recipe: Natural Peanut Butter & Yogurt Frozen Dog Treat

This week we bring you a simple DIY frozen dog treat recipe using 3 of our favorite beef treats and chews!

The first, Beef Trachea, also known as “moo tubes,” is naturally high in chondroitin and glucosamine to help benefit canine joint health. Trachea is available on BestBullySticks.com in multiple sizes but for this recipe, we used the Trachea Grab Bag as it contains of a nice variety of sizes.

Cow Hooves are a durable chew suited for medium to large dogs. We love Trachea and Cow Hooves because they can be easily stuffed with yogurt, peanut butter, and other dog-friendly fillers.

Lastly, Bully Flakes are an awesome flavor enhancer for just about any dog food or treat! Peanut butter and bully flakes, now that’s a tasty combo :).

Trachea Grab Bag (or 3, 5-6 inch or 11-12 inch trachea chews)

Nonfat Yogurt- we used Nonfat since the fruit already has natural sugar

Natural Peanut Butter, creamy or crunchy variety*

Cow Hooves- appropriate for Medium to Large Dogs

Bully Flakes

*Be sure that the peanut butter does not contain xylitol– this additive is toxic to dogs!!

Here is how we prepared our fillers:

1. In separate containers, mix

  • Nonfat yogurt** with Bully Flakes
  • Natural peanut butter with Bully Flakes

If you really want to get fancy, you can even make a Peanut Butter Yogurt filling! Just mix your desired ratio of peanut butter and yogurt.

2. Using a teaspoon or knife, stuff the trachea and cow hooves with your fillers.

3. Place filled treats in a freezable container (and be sure to wash thoroughly once before reusing).

4. After freezing for 30 minutes or more, treat your dog to this healthy frozen delight!

**If the yogurt has been out for a bit and isn’t firm enough to fill the chews, place the bowl or jar in the freezer for 30 minutes.

Feeding Instructions: As with all of our natural treats, we recommend no more than 1 chew a day, as most of our single-ingredient chews are high in protein. Please supervise your pet while they chew.

Frozen Trachea Treats are suitable for small to large dogs. Cow hooves, however, are hard chews and recommended only for medium dogs and larger.

Storage: Store in your freezer for up to 3 months.

Bone appetit!
