Weekly Drool Recipe: Bully Flake Ice Cube Dog Treats

BFlake Ice Cubes 8.14.14

Temperatures are still high during the month of August, especially where we are in Virginia! To help dogs endure the summer heat, we created an icy concoction and visited the lovable mutts at Richmond Animal Care & Control to treat them on National Mutt Day!

Another dog holiday, DOGust 1st, happened the following day, so it was the perfect time to give some snacks and attention to these dogs waiting for their forever homes. Dogs love icy treats, so we combined a new product that’s easy to use with ice for a treat that these rescue dogs loved!

We recently introduced to our product line Bully Flakes: soft, highly-digestible bully stick flakes that are a great food enhancer. If your dog has sensitive teeth and is unable to chew bully sticks, Bully Flakes have the great taste of bully sticks in a different form! Bully Flakes can be sprinkled on your dog’s food daily, especially if they are picky eaters or lacking appetite.

A member of our Customer Service team brought home Bully Flakes to try in ice cubes with her pibble, and they were a hit! How much Bully Flakes you put in the ice cube is up to you- you can sprinkle a pinch or measure out a teaspoon.

Step by Step instructions for Bully Flake Ice Cube Dog Treats

1.  Using clean ice cube trays*, sprinkle or spoon out bully flakes into the individual cubes.

2. Add cold or room temperature water, filling to the top of the cube.

3. Freeze for 1 hour or more to achieve a frozen solid ice cube dog treat.

4. Feed your dog a few Bully Flake Ice Cube Treats as a way to cool down on a hot day or a reward for just being a great dog! We are sure he will enjoy it.

*If you reuse the tray, be sure to only use it for pet treats; it should not be used for human consumption.

There you have it! An easy, two-ingredient frozen dog treat perfect for hot weather.

Rocco especially loved our Bully Flake treats. He gobbled up four of them!

Vote to Support Canine Cancer Awareness!

Did you know that more than 1 in 3 dogs dies each year due to cancer? This tragic statistic needs to change!

Best Bully Sticks is passionate about our canine family members, which is why we are partnering with the National Canine Cancer Foundation to raise funds to help prevent these unnecessary deaths.

Join us
in the Fight against Canine Cancer by voting for your favorite Canine Cancer Survivor each day between May 22 and June 1, 2014. This is a charity contest to support the National Canine Cancer Foundation.

Why does your vote matter?

Each vote equals $1 in support of improving dogs’ lives and helping them recover from cancer to live longer, healthy lives.

When we reach 500 Votes, we will donate $500 to the National Canine Cancer Foundation. If 750 votes are made, a donation of $750.00 will awarded. If 1,000 Votes are reached in the contest period, a donation of $1,000 will be made to NCCF. The contest will end when 1,000 Votes are received!

Who are the dogs featured?

Head over to our Canine Cancer Survivors Facebook contest to see these survivors’ adorable photos and read their wonderful stories of hope.

About the National Canine Cancer Foundation

The NCCF funds important research grants for the scientific efforts of cancer researchers who are working to save lives, find a cure, find better treatments, find more accurate, cost effective, diagnostic methods in dealing with cancer, and diminish dogs’ suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy, and service.
