Weekly Drool Recipe: Healthy Springtime Doggy Snack

Happy Spring to you and your dog(s)! We are sharing some dog recipe goodness from Kirby the Dorkie in this week’s Spring-themed Drool Recipe: Roasted Baby Carrots. After all, what symbolizes spring and promotes good eyesight better than carrots?!

These orange veggies are chock-full of beta-carotene and Vitamin A. While raw carrots are a healthy, crunchy treat excellent for dental cleaning, they can’t be broken down fully in your dogs’ digestive tracts. In other words, your dog won’t absorb all of the carrots’ nutrients. That’s why cooked carrots are vitamin-rich snack for Fido!

This recipe is super-easy: both on your time and wallet. Even better, even the most novice in the kitchen can master it!

 Ingredients

- 1 bag baby carrots

- 1/4 cup light olive oil

- Pinch sea salt

- Pinch cayenne pepper

 Preparation Instructions

1. Cut any large carrots in half lengthwise and place all the carrots in bowl.

2. Add the olive oil, salt and pepper.

3. Using your hand, toss until the carrots are completely coated.

4. Spread out on a foil lined jelly roll pan or shallow baking dish.

Thanks to Kirby the Dorkie and Mom, Debby, for sharing this fun and easy recipe! Carrots have wonderful health benefits for both you and your dog!
